Student Veterans- Introduction

soldier holding books

The University of Michigan is proud of our students who served and/or are serving our country.   Nearly 500 student veterans and military members attend the University of Michigan.  We thank you for your service and recognize the contributions you make to the University through your sharing of diverse life experiences.

At times, student veterans may face challenges other students have not had to encounter. These challenges may relate to distressing combat related events, adjusting from a military culture to a Big 10 university culture, to feeling like a non-traditional student. These concerns may make it more challenging to work at your academic potential.

MiTalk has many tools you can use to help yourself or a friend, including:
  • Obstacles to Achieving Academic Potential
  • Mental Health Distress
  • Health and Disability
